Mission Statement

The mission of the Museum of Speed at the Bedford Fairgrounds, Bedford, PA is to preserve the history of motor sports and auto racing through the collection and preservation of racing machines, documents, racing paraphernalia and photographs. The purpose of the Museum is to educate the public about the evolution of racing and the history of motor sports in PA., Md. and nearby states, from its inception to the present. This is accomplished through exhibitions, educational presentations and memorable collections.

Vision Statement

It is the vision of the Museum of Speed at the Bedford Fairgrounds, Bedford, PA to present exhibits that are visual expressions of the history of motor racing held at racing venues in the area . The goal in presenting exhibits is to entertain, educate, and guide the public in the pursuit of a better understanding of what racing has meant to the culture of the area. Exhibits also are designed to provide the public with a better understanding of the nostalgic origins, mechanical improvements and the growth of safety awareness that improved the sport. These goals are accomplished by displaying race cars, racing equipment, documents, media print and photographs to interpret the role that motor racing has served to enhance the motor sport experiences within a community.
